Rumours swirled at the recent Frankfurt Book Fair with some publishers saying that Dan Brown has delivered the final manuscript for the sequel to The Da Vinci Code. Will it still be called The Solomon Key? DB's lawyers renewed his trademark application for the title mid-year, so it would seem it's likely. Stay tuned...
Solomon Key - release date
So, what's the current best guess for the release date of
The Solomon Key? Has Dan Brown waited too long? Loads of others have jumped in on this Solomon Key territory. Best
of the bunch is Mike Hockney's The Armageddon Conspiracy
about a plot to kill God. Can Dan beat that? I'm sure he'll
give it a good shot.
Death of George Washington = December 14, 1799. Is December 14, 2008 a good date for The Solomon Key? Just in time for
Christmas.
Probably not
Publishers generally like to have a lead time of at least 6 months of publicity/early press and reviews before releasing a book. At the moment, my best bet would be a tie-in with the Angels and Demons movie, due out in 2009. Riding the coat-tails, if you will. Perhaps July 4th?
Kind regards,
Greg

Release date
Does a publisher really need 6 months?
Did The Da Vinci Code get 6 months? (I'm not being rhetorical, I honestly don't know)
If not the date of Washington's death (which is a good one), how about inauguration day in January?

It is not uncommon for authors to submit manuscripts which aren't published until two or three years later. But in answer to your question, with a book of the earning potential of The Solomon Key, I very much doubt that there will be any rush to market. For a start, after the last book I'm sure the publisher will want their lawyers to check it all over. Then there is the planning for the marketing - not a small task for a product which will probably sell a billion dollars worth.
Given the Angels and Demons release in May, perhaps a chance of May 1st (for the Illuminati tie-in), or riding on the coat-tails of the movie (which could be dangerous if it flops) perhaps July 4th?
Kind regards,
Greg

I don't know what you mean by your tag line but as far as I'm concerned I am watching "Planet of the Apes" in a whole new Light!
Get over it, it's cool... :-)
