Not the Solomon Key

This recent news item suggests that the title of DB's next book will *not* be The Solomon Key. The news is based on a discussion a (different) journalist had with Brown's representative:

During a conversation about the book, which the journalist repeatedly called “The Solomon Key,” Brown’s rep seemed to get exasperated and stopped her:

“You are using a title that was used several years ago. That is completely out of date.”

I'd imagine this was the same journalist that called me about Dan Brown's next book a couple of weeks ago. She told me the same thing, although not in that detail, and asked me for my thoughts. I agreed that it could well be the case, given that much of DB's 'thunder' has been stolen in recent years (not least by myself!), and also given similar news items a couple of years ago.

However, I also noted that some things still argue in favour of 'The Solomon Key' as being the title. A couple of years ago - after the first news of the title change - DB's Solomon Key domains were renewed through to 2016. Also, there have been no new trademark applications in Brown's name since The Solomon Key was registered - and it was renewed most recently in December 2008 by his lawyers, suggesting the title is still well and truly in the frame and not "out of date" as his rep stated (although this is the last 6-month extension available to him for that trademark - so we might know for sure in June).

It's worth noting also that the rep dismissed the ET story as well (regarding Ron Howard's comment that the next book was finished) "repeating that Brown had not finished the book." Not sure that Howard would get that fact wrong, given he's in direct communication with DB. So I'd reserve plenty of skepticism for the rep's statements. Hopefully we'll find out either way pretty soon.

The Lost Symbol

Well the name has changed to The Lost Symbol, but we finally have a publication date of September 15, 2009. Let the speculation and games begin. See Dan Brown's site for the official announcement.

September 15th

Here is what I think. The publish date should be Sept 18th since that is the day in 1793 that the corner stone to the US Capitol was laid in DC with George Washongton in Masonic Regalia and the ceromony in Masonic Style. The reason why it is not SEP 18 is because book are general published on a TUE, hince SEP 15.

Margo, this is a great piece of thinking (coincidentally, I received an email just now pointing out the Tuesday book release date reasoning from someone I know). Also notable of course is the signing of the constitution on Sept 17th 1787. So a big week of anniversaries, all tied to Brown's original research of the 'hidden history' of the Founding of the United States.

Thanks for your input!

Kind regards,
Greg

The Zodiac Sign Of Libra On Dan Brown's Official HomePage

Looking at the front page of Dam Brown's official website I was struck that amongst the announcement of his new book The Lost Symbol, there was in fact a symbol. A symbol I recognised but could not name. It is the ONLY symbol on the home page.

But what is this symbol? I checked online using symbols.com. Selecting the drop down options I entered the description :a sign with single-axis symmetry, an open symbol, with both straight and soft non crossing lines. And there amongst the results was my symbol.

I was pleased to discover that I had definitely heard of this symbol. The symbol is a sign of the Zodiac. It is the sign for Libra. But is this significant? Well, it didn't take long to realise that it is.

The sun, enters the Libra part of the zodiac sometime around September 23, and exits somewhere near October 22.
It struck me that with the book being released on September 15th and hitting the book charts a week later that surely this was no coincidence.

But what does the Libra symbol mean?
I quickly found out that it is one of the most ancient symbol. It is the only non living sign of the Zodiac. And it a symbol of a balance, a weighing device : the scales. And the scales have long been associated with the fraternity of law. The symbol of the lady and the scales is immortalised worldwide outside court buildings. As we are pretty certain that the book is set in a 12 hour rush around Washington DC it is to me incredibly likely that the highest court in America, the Supreme Court, will be the pinnacle of the book's hunt.

We know Dan Brown is a fan of zodiac ages (LeIGH Teabing references the age of Piscies and Aquarius in his chateau in the DVC) But what is the age of Libra? Intriguingly it is an age "when the people began to build temples to store the treasures of precious stones and metals that the Earth had yielded up to them."

So we have scales and law, temple building and treasures.
By consensus we can assume that in TLS the Freemasons will be the secret society that Dan Brown uses.
The Freemasons have a shadowy involvement with the legal world.
And the Freemasons long have a political connection, with George Washington being a grand master.
It is noted in conspiracy websites that the freemasons symbol, the square and compass, seems to appear on the street layout of Washington DC. The square and compass links The White House to The Supreme Court. It is also interesting as obviously the President is the head of the Supreme Court.

So is it a dash between The White House to The Supreme Court, covering the symbols cross points on the journey What is of further interest is that The Supreme Court does have images on the building of historical law makers, and Solomon is one of them.

I know I have made a massive leap from one symbol, but it does appear to me to have significant meaning.
I believe from what previous commentators have speculated on what the new book from Dan Brown will contain, will be largely accurate.

Libra's been around a while

Hi Rob,

While I think you've done a great job in spotting the symbol, and interpreting it, I'm not sure it's a signal to the topic in the new novel. Checking archive.org, the symbol was there even before The Da Vinci Code was released.

Kind regards,
Greg
